Game recap: Sandia High School Football Team defeats Los Lunas

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Los Lunas (N.M.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 5 in New Mexico, but was stunned by Sandia (Albuquerque, N.M.), 28-7. Sandia was ranked at No. 12 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for New Mexico coming into the week.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Camrron Bean in the second quarter, the Matadors led 14-7 at the half.

Sandia expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Marcus Quintana.

Los Lunas' lone touchdown came on a 5-yard pass from undefined to Chris Sanchez in the first quarter.



The defeat comes as a step back for Los Lunas, who notched a 50-0 victory over Del Norte in its previous outing. The loss snapped Los Lunas' three-game winning streak.

Sandia (3-1) goes up against Rio Grande in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Los Lunas (3-1) locks horns with St. Pius X also in a non-conference game.
