Caitlin Gryszowka and Grace Gray were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Gryszowka pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Gray struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Gryszowka went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one triple, while Gray went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Those four RBI gave Gryszowka a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lacie Godby and Ava Allen did most of the damage at the plate: Godby went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Allen went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Tara Gruca was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Cascade hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenwood struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Heights was able to grind out a solid victory over Guerin Catholic on Wednesday, taking the game 6-2. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Like Cascade, Hamilton Heights also got a great game from a two-way player: Lily Cash. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Cash was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kamryn Rhoton was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ellie Engle, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Cascade is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton Heights, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cascade hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Hamilton Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cascade took their victory against Hamilton Heights in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Cadets repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
