Softball Recap: North Pike Comes Up Short

North Pike was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brandon Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-8 back in February.

North Pike saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Sanderson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Brenn Boyd also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

North Pike's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Brandon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Pike will face off against Brookhaven at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season. As for Brandon, they will square off against Pearl at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
