Basketball Recap: Colton Modisette's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Broaddus over Centerville

On Friday, the Broaddus Bulldogs lost to the Centerville Bulldogs at home by a 75-56 margin. While losing is never fun, Broaddus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 816th, while Centerville is ranked 392nd).

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colton Modisette, who posted 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The match was Modisette's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Sanders, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Broaddus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centerville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Slaten, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. Slaten is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Hardy Brown, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Broaddus' defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Centerville, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Broaddus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-11 win against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent on the 27th. As for Centerville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 80-35 victory against Oakwood on the 27th.
