Baseball Game Preview: Rose Bud Ramblers vs. Bauxite Miners

The Rose Bud Ramblers will venture away from home to square off against the Bauxite Miners at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Rose Bud is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Rose Bud took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Pangburn with a sharp 12-4 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Ramblers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Jay Bell and Calan English made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Bell pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Meanwhile, English pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Bell scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while English scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Rose Bud is undefeated when English posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rose Bud let Coleby Compton and Athan Hensley run wild. Compton scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Hensley scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three hits gave Compton a new career-high. Nick Golla also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Bauxite earned a 9-5 win over Malvern on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the Leopards: they've now won six in a row.

Bauxite's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Rose Bud, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-7.
