Softball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends St. Joseph's Winning Streak

After flying high against Ridgefield on Wednesday, St. Joseph came back down to earth. The Cadets fell just short of the Darien Blue Wave by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Cadets' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Katie Dzialo spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

St. Joseph's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Darien, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. St. Joseph will face off against rival Norwalk at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cadets 1.2, the Bears 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Darien is set to challenge their familiar foe Trumbull at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
