The River Road Wildcats will head out to face off against the Dalhart Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: River Road has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Dalhart will arrive with six straight wins.
Childress hit River Road with a five-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats came up short against the Bobcats, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly ten runs.
Seth Underwood made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Dalhart made easy work of Tulia on Tuesday and carried off a 20-11 victory.
Kreed Hines made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Dalhart let Lil Bird and Talon Garcia run wild. Bird went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Garcia went 2-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those five runs gave Garcia a new career-high. Kaleb Speer was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Dalhart was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Dalhart pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for River Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
