Volleyball Recap: Elyria Pioneers vs. Avon Eagles

Elyria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Avon Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-17, 25-12.

Kennedy Smith paced Elyria's offense, picking up eight kills. Smith were helped by Brooklyn Cruz-Barnett and Camy Kelley, who contributed nine assists each.

Elyria's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Avon, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 21-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Elyria will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Strongsville at 7:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Avon, after both having extra time off, they and Magnificat will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
