Basketball Recap: Hazlehurst Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kavarrious Crawford and Jakavion Johnson

Hazlehurst dropped to 4-2 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Hillcrest Christian Cougars by a score of 54-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Indians have suffered since January 17th.

Jakavion Johnson and Kavarrious Crawford certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Johnson posted 21 points and five boards, while Crawford dropped a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Crawford now owns an excellent 45.3% shooting accuracy.

As for Hillcrest Christian, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 61.8 points this season.

Hillcrest Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darius Barnes, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Barnes' third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Thompson, who shot 54% from the field on his way to 19 points and three steals.
