Baseball Recap: Blake Wins Going Away Against Rockville

Blake got themselves on the board against Rockville on Wednesday, but Rockville never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Rams. The Bengals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Isaac Blinkoff made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over 5.2 innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Blake's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Blinkoff was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, James Venable was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kevin Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The win got Blake back to even at 6-6. As for Rockville, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Blake has already played their next game (against Paint Branch), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Rockville, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Magruder at 2:00 p.m.
