After losing to Shadow Ridge the last time they met, Verrado decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Vipers skirted past the Stallions 6-4.

Hunter Chambers looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Carter Purdy and Zach Mermis did most of the damage at the plate: Purdy went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Mermis went 2-for-3 with one home run. Those two hits gave Mermis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Trujillo, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Verrado now has a winning record of 1-0-1.

Looking ahead, Verrado will take on Coconino in a tournament on Thursday. As for Shadow Ridge, they will be taking part in a tournament against Centennial at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
