Oxford is 9-1 against Naugatuck since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. Oxford's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Naugatuck's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Oxford will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Derby on Tuesday. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Red Raiders. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by eight runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Naugatuck came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of 5-2.

Leah Chatfield made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Chatfield wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Amanda Torrens, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Oxford's record is now 11-2. As for Naugatuck, their record now sits at 10-8.

Everything went Oxford's way against Naugatuck in their previous matchup back in April, as Oxford made off with a 16-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
