Football Game Preview: Amanda Elzy Panthers vs. Humphreys County Cowboys

Amanda Elzy is 2-8 against Humphreys County since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Panthers will host the Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Amanda Elzy duked it out with Winona on Friday. The Panthers were outmatched by the Tigers and fell 39-8. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-0.

Despite the defeat, Amanda Elzy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jar'Kavion Clemon rushed for 103 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 108 yards and one TD. Those 103 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Clemon. Amanda Elzy's leading receiver Demarcus Brown was Clemon's top target yet again, picking up 91 receiving yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Humphreys County took a blow against Greenville on Friday, falling 44-16.

Amanda Elzy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Humphreys County, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Amanda Elzy couldn't quite get it done against Humphreys County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 46-38. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
