Hillsboro falls despite strong effort from Jace Stewart

The Hillsboro Hiltoppers pushed their score all the way to 62 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 75-62 to Taylorville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hillsboro in their matchups with Taylorville: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Hillsboro lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jace Stewart. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stewart has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nathan Matoush, who scored 20 points along with three steals.

Even though they lost, Hillsboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Hillsboro has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Taylorville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-17.

Hillsboro will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Civic Memorial at 7:00 p.m. Civic Memorial is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Taylorville, they will head out on the road to square off against Charleston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Charleston is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
