Football Game Preview: Stockdale Brahmas vs. Natalia Mustangs

The Stockdale Brahmas will head out to face off against the Natalia Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Natalia took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Stockdale, who comes in off a win.

Stockdale took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 41-31 win over Karnes City. The victory continues a trend for the Brahmas in their matchups with the Badgers: they've now won five in a row.

Stockdale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Coy Gann out in front who rushed for 175 yards and four scores on only 15 carries. The dominant performance also gave Gann a new career-high in passing yards (53). Trenton Gordon was another key rusher, rushing for 126 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stockdale was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 433 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 178 rushing yards in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Stockdale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Trey Miller and Calvin West. West has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Natalia's offense. They had to suffer through a 64-0 loss at the hands of Poth. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

This is the second loss in a row for Natalia and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Stockdale, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Everything came up roses for Stockdale against Natalia in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Brahmas since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
