Basketball Recap: Central Columbia Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Central Columbia can now relate to. They came up short against the Shamokin Area Indians on Tuesday, falling 57-32. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Indians are ranked 49th).

Jenssyn Shuey had an outrageously good game for Shamokin Area as he almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Shuey has posted since back in December of 2024. Brandt Krieger also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Central Columbia moved to 17-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points over those games. As for Shamokin Area, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.

Central Columbia has already played their next game, a 57-52 defeat against Mount Carmel on the 28th. As for Shamokin Area, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-47 loss against Danville on the 28th.
