Softball Recap: Hudson Gets the Win

Hudson took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Solon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Explorers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Comets on Thursday.

Claire Eland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Rosko, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Bailey Deutsch was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Hudson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .409 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Hudson now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Solon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Hudson and Solon are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Explorers will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Solon, they will take on Twinsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
