League recap: Spiceson races to league-leading run for Daviess County

6A District 1 recap November 5, 2013

Samuel Spiceson of Daviess County ran for the longest rushing play in 6A District 1 this season against Ohio County last week. Spiceson's team defeated the Eagles as he sprinted for 68 yards on the play and finished with 141 in all.

McCracken County added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Christian County, 43-26. The win marks eighth in a row for the McCracken County.

Orville Haskins' team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zyaire Hughes threw for 168 and 2 touchdowns and Rasheed Jones had 99 yards receiving. On the ground Jordan Troutman contributed 183 yards. Morgan Alexander helped McCracken County's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 62 yards.

Darren Jones made the biggest impact on defense this week as Daviess County beat Ohio County. The 6-foot-1 senior recorded 1 fumble.

Jones was the best wideout in the league this week as McCracken County defeated the Colonels. Jones racked up 6 receptions for 99 yards. Alexander helped McCracken County's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 62 yards.

Hughes has thrown for 2,285 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, while Jones has 58 catches for 887 yards.

Marcus Kimbrell's team took down Todd Houston's team 49-19 last week, the largest margin of any game. Spiceson ran for 141 yards during the win.
