Soccer Game Preview: Oxford Prep vs. Person

The Oxford Prep Griffins are taking a road trip to face off against the Person Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Oxford Prep is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Eno River Academy on Wednesday. The Griffins came up short against the Bobcats, falling 6-2. While losing is never fun, Oxford Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Eno River Academy are ranked 115th).

Meanwhile, Person was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They lost 7-0 to Williams.

Oxford Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9-3. As for Person, their loss dropped their record down to 0-16.

Oxford Prep skirted past Person 2-1 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Griffins since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
