Preview: Mineral Ridge Rams vs. Rootstown Rovers
The Mineral Ridge Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Rootstown Rovers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mineral Ridge fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They claimed a resounding 35-6 win over Jackson-Milton on the road. With Mineral Ridge ahead 28-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Ian Erb was a one-man wrecking crew for Mineral Ridge as he rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards.
Rootstown never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Southeast last Friday. They really took it to the Pirates for the full four quarters, racking up a 43-7 victory at home. Rootstown pushed the score to 36-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Southeast had little chance of recovering from.
Rootstown can attribute much of their success to Dawson Morgan, who rushed for 180 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.0 yards per carry.
Their wins bumped Mineral Ridge to 7-4 and Rootstown to 9-1.
