Baseball Recap: Hill Country Christian's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Hill Country Christian came into Tuesday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bishop Reicher Catholic Cougars a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Rams' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

GARY DAILEY made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hill Country Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-4 otherwise. DAILEY was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, COLTON SCOTT was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. JOSIAH PECINA also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Hill Country Christian's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Bishop Reicher Catholic, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Hill Country Christian will challenge Valor Preparatory Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bishop Reicher Catholic, they will face off against Bracken Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
