Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Southeast Knights vs. Omaha Central Eagles

The Lincoln Southeast Knights will challenge the Omaha Central Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Lincoln Southeast didn't have quite enough to beat Columbus and fell 4-3. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lincoln Southeast saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Volpp, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Omaha Central was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They fell just short of Roncalli Catholic by a score of 2-1.

Joe Dougherty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Lincoln Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Omaha Central, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

Lincoln Southeast took their victory against Omaha Central when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
