Volleyball Recap: Ten Straight Home Victories for Lamar

Lamar won the last time they faced Heritage Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Patriots. The Raiders not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since August 21st (when they won 3-0).

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Lamar took every set by at least 14 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-4, 25-6.

Lamar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Dearing, who had five aces. Those five aces gave Dearing a new career-high.

Dearing wasn't the only good server: Lamar was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 25 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Lamar pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Heritage Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-18.

Looking ahead, Lamar will welcome Starkville Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Heritage Academy, they will head out to square off against Hamilton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
