Basketball Recap: Hernando Christian Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Cedric Jackson, Jr. and Caydon Williams

Hernando Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 72-62 to the Central Bears. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-23 back in December of 2024.

Hernando Christian Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Caydon Williams and Cedric Jackson, Jr.. Williams went 7 of 10 en route to 18 points and four steals, while Jackson, Jr. posted 24 points. Jackson, Jr. continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaden Montzka, who had 13 points and three steals.

Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braydon Prospero led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists. Those 11 assists gave Prospero a new career-high. Rommy Abreau was another key player, putting up nine points and six steals.

Hernando Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Hernando Christian Academy has already played their next match, a 69-22 loss against Clearwater Central Catholic on the 16th. As for Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-37 win against Weeki Wachee on the 14th.
