Basketball Recap: Mckinley Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

McKinley's game on Tuesday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Hoover Vikings 59-56. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 53-49 back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McKinley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anthony Chavers, who went 7 for 11 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Chavers a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Reed Sims Jr, who went 6 of 12 to rack up 17 points and five boards.

McKinley pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points over those games. As for Hoover, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKinley will square off against Archbishop Hoban at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Archbishop Hoban is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.4 points per game this season. As for Hoover, they will take on Washington at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th.
