Volleyball Game Preview: Paetow Panthers vs. Cinco Ranch Cougars

Paetow hasn't had much luck against Cinco Ranch recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will square off against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Paetow will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more sets each contest than the last.

Paetow had lost four straight headed into Tuesday's matchup, but Sofia Moctezuma didn't let it get to five. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Morton Ranch on Tuesday thanks in part to Moctezuma, who had 20 assists and three digs. Moctezuma is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Paetow was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-13, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Cinco Ranch came up short against Jordan on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-10, 25-14.

Paetow will have to keep a close watch on Natalie Wolskij and Reagan Tobeck, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cinco Ranch's prior game. Wolskij had ten digs and two assists, while Tobeck had 11 assists and six digs.

Cinco Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 13-18. As for Paetow, their victory bumped their record up to 15-13.

Paetow beat Cinco Ranch 3-1 when the teams last played back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
