Basketball Recap: King Academy Comes Up Short

King Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 52-18 loss at the hands of the Pelion Panthers. The Knights were down 46-16 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Leading Pelion to victory were John Berned and Kolton Rogers. Berned went 5 for 6 on his way to 14 points, while Rogers posted nine points and five blocks. Those five blocks gave Rogers a new career-high. Chris Rodriguez was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

King Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Pelion, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Laurens Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Pelion and Wagener-Salley will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
