It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Westlake had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past the Farmington Phoenix 14-5. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by seven runs or more this season.
Brilynn Attebery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Ryan Pead was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Audrey Sherman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Westlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Farmington only posted an OBP of .344.
The victory made it two in a row for Westlake and bumps their season record up to 19-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Farmington, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
