Soccer Game Preview: Midlothian vs. Monacan

The Midlothian Trojans are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Monacan Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Midlothian has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 22 goals over their last three contests.

Monacan better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Midlothian's game on Tuesday is any indication, that's when Midlothian really gets things going. Everything went Midlothian's way against Clover Hill as Midlothian made off with a 6-1 victory. Midlothian haven't had any issues with Clover Hill recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Monacan was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to Cosby. Monacan have struggled against Cosby recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Midlothian pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those three matchups. As for Monacan, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Midlothian was able to grind out a solid victory over Monacan in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Midlothian since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
