League recap: Waddell breaks off league-leading run for Mountain Range

5A Front Range recap September 4, 2013

Mountain Range's Ben Waddell recorded the longest rushing play in 5A Front Range this season in his game against Northglenn last week. Waddell's team beat the Norsemen as he sprinted for 63 yards on the play and finished with 96 in all.

Fans got a thrill when Andrew Wamsley and Kyle Dunbabin connected against Northglenn. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 61 yards.

Mountain Range's dynamic duo of Wamsley and Dunbabin proved to be unstoppable against Matthew Dean's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wamsley threw for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns and Dunbabin had 115 yards receiving. Elijah Gillespie helped Mountain Range's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 30 yards.

Bryan Davey's team's dynamic duo of Wamsley and Dunbabin proved tough for the Norsemen to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Mitchell Salmela was a passing and rushing force as Fossil Ridge fell to Westminster. He completed 12 passes for 183 yards and also ran for 14 yards. Salmela's key target this week was Nick Kravec, who caught 3 passes for 54 yards.

Dunbabin was the best receiver in the league this week as the Mustangs bested Northglenn.

Wamsley put up the best numbers through the air as Mountain Range beat the Norsemen.

Jake Horner was the most successful running back in 5A Front Range this week. In 34 carries, he ran for 151 yards as the Sabercats defeated Northglenn.

On the heels of Salmela and Horner, Fossil Ridge has had great success on offense. Salmela is tops in the league in passing with 183 yards, while Horner has rushed for 151 yards this season. Mountain Range's Dunbabin leads the league in receiving yards with 115 on 4 catches.

Rocky Mountain scaled the state rankings by moving to 55 from 147 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lobos were able to make move up by beating Chaparral 23-13.
