Baseball Preview: Marmion Cadets vs. St. Laurence Vikings
Marmion hasn't had much luck against St. Laurence recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cadets are taking a road trip to take on the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Marmion gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Rochelle with a sharp 12-4 win.
Ryan Blakeslee looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Matthew Tulley was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Flores, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Marmion lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, St. Laurence got the win against Aurora Central Catholic on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
St. Laurence pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Marmion, their record now sits at 8-5-1.
