Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Hagerty's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Hagerty rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Colonial Grenadiers a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Huskies have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Verne looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Hagerty let Ana Roman and Alexandra Beldowicz run wild. Roman went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Beldowicz went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Beldowicz has posted since back in March. Hannah Hargrave was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Hagerty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hagerty has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 19-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Colonial, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-16.

Looking ahead, Hagerty will take on Timber Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Colonial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
