The Red Bluff Spartans will challenge the River Valley Falcons at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
River Valley will be up against a hot Red Bluff team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Red Bluff blew past Lassen 8-1 on Friday.
Mattison Kwarta made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Camryn Dyke was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Piper Tyler was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Red Bluff hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, River Valley got themselves on the board against Durham on Friday, but Durham never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Trojans as they made off with an 11-0 win. The game marked the Falcons' most dominant victory of the season so far.
The team relied heavily on Claudia Dudek, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one triple.
The win made it two in a row for River Valley and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Red Bluff, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Red Bluff has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like River Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Red Bluff's way against River Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Red Bluff made off with a 9-0 win. Will Red Bluff repeat their success, or does River Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
