Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Starks

Starks had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the South Cameron Tarpons. Considering the Panthers have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cody Harrison made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Harrison was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Braden Holloway and Jude Stanley did most of the damage at the plate: Holloway got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI, while Stanley got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four runs gave Holloway a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Mumaw, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Starks now has a winning record of 4-3. As for South Cameron, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Coming up, Starks will be playing at home against Simpson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Cameron, they will head out to face off against Reeves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something the Tarpons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
