Mapleton and South Central are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Mounties will face off against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Mapleton will be strutting in after a win while South Central will be coming in after a loss.

Mapleton's tournament run continued when they took on Wellington on Wednesday. The Mounties were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Dukes. The result was nothing new for the Mounties, who have now won 16 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, South Central came up short against Perkins on Thursday and fell 8-5.

South Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zaida Myers, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Myers is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Ella Sanders also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Mapleton pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for South Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Mapleton got the 'W' in their previous meeting last Monday against South Central by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mounties since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
