Football Recap: Coolidge Takes a Loss

Coolidge lost against Florence back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bears came up short against the Gophers, falling 27-2. The game marked the Bears' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Florence's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dayron Neal led the charge by rushing for 187 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Those 187 rushing yards gave Neal a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Ramirez, who rushed for 57 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries.

Coolidge's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Florence, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Coolidge will venture away from home to face off against ALA - Mesa North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will be up against the Mavericks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Florence, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Shadow Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
