Football Recap: Ponte Vedra Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Ponte Vedra unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 38-28 to the Nease Panthers on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sharks of the 24-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Loss or not, Ponte Vedra got some senior leadership from Cole Rosendahl and Jack Berquist. Rosendahl threw for 348 yards and a pair of TDs, while Berquist picked up 109 receiving yards and one score.

Nease's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Enrique Ordo?ez, who rushed for 193 yards and one touchdown while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Those 193 rushing yards gave Ordo?ez a new career-high. Aiden Phifer was another key signal caller, throwing for 229 yards and a pair of TDs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponte Vedra will face off against Bartram Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nease, they will square off against Creekside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
