            Softball Recap: Metea Valley Mustangs vs. Naperville Central Redhawks        
        
		
        
        
            Metea Valley came into their game  on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against  the Naperville Central Redhawks, falling  14-3. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Redhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in May of 2024.

 Charlie Benesh put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing five innings while giving up just one earned  (and five unearned) runs off   six  hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 Benesh wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Maielle Ernser, who  went 1-for-3 with one  run.
Metea Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Naperville Central,  the  win  got them back to even at 8-8.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Metea Valley is set to  challenge  their familiar foe DeKalb  at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Naperville Central will  square off against  rival Waubonsie Valley  at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
