Football Recap: Jones Takes a Loss

Jones had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-3 to make it six. They were dealt a 47-3 defeat at the hands of the Victoria West Warriors. The Trojans lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 46-25 score last time.

As for Victoria West, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 39 points or more this season.

Nolan Boyce was his usual excellent self, throwing for 169 yards and three TDs on only 16 passes, while also rushing for 32 yards and one score. What's more, he racked up 143 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Looking ahead, Jones will venture away from home to square off against Hallettsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Victoria West, they will host McCollum at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
