Softball Recap: Hollister Takes a Loss

Hollister had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 11-7-1 to make it four. They fell just short of the Everett Alvarez Eagles by a score of 4-3. The Haybalers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Sophia Galindo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

As for Everett Alvarez, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Hollister since March 13, 2018.

On Everett Alvarez's side, Dani Amendola spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Amendola has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Everett Alvarez's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Michelle Wallace, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hollister will venture away from home to take on North Salinas at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Haybalers are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Everett Alvarez, they will head out to challenge Salinas at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
