East Wilkes and Wilkes Central are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Wilkes will be strutting in after a win while Wilkes Central will be coming in after a defeat.

East Wilkes will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Elkin, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Buckin' Elks 3-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cardinals have posted since August 28th.

Meanwhile, Wilkes Central came up short against Starmount on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

Wilkes Central dropped their record down to 7-14 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for East Wilkes, with the win, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 6-15.

East Wilkes was able to grind out a solid victory over Wilkes Central in their previous matchup back in September, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
