Softball Game Preview: West Valley Mustangs vs. Tahquitz Titans

For the first time this season, West Valley will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will take on the Tahquitz Titans at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. West Valley will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

West Valley barely beat Perris the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. West Valley put the hurt on Perris with a sharp 21-10 victory on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Destiny Ioane was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Violet Fisher, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Ioane wasn't the only one working in the hit department: West Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Tahquitz fell victim to Liberty and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Bison, falling 12-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Titans were not able to get on the board.

West Valley's record is now 2-4. As for Tahquitz, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .419. However, it's not like Tahquitz struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

West Valley might still be hurting after the 21-0 loss they got from Tahquitz in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can West Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
