Basketball Recap: Dominic Nowak's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Broken Bow over St. Paul

After flying high against Ainsworth on Friday, Broken Bow came back down to earth. The Broken Bow Indians took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Paul Wildcats. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Broken Bow's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Nowak, who posted 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Nowak has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Zachary Jackson was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

Broken Bow's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for St. Paul, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broken Bow will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hershey at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Broken Bow is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season. As for St. Paul, they will take on O'Neill in a tournament on Friday. St. Paul has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
