Softball Game Preview: Lincolnwood Lancers vs. Tri-City Tornadoes

The Lincolnwood Lancers are taking a road trip to face off against the Tri-City Tornadoes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincolnwood is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

If Lincolnwood beats Tri-City with five runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Lancers walked away with a 5-2 victory over Central A & M on Monday.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Tri-City nor Sacred Heart-Griffin made it on the board until the eighth inning. The Tornadoes fell just short of the Cyclones by a score of 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Tornadoes have lost by exactly two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Tri-City and nudges their season record down to 5-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Lincolnwood, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Lincolnwood came up short against Tri-City in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
