Baseball Recap: St. Paul Takes a Loss

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither St. Paul nor Wachusett Regional made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Knights took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountaineers. Considering the last time the Knights couldn't score was back in April, the team can't take the result too hard.

St. Paul saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braydon Liziewski, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Liziewski has hit this season.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Paul and nudges their season record down to 5-12. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Wachusett Regional, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

When St. Paul and Wachusett Regional next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Knights will square off against Nashoba Regional and their three-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Wachusett Regional will try to stop Oakmont Regional's three-game winning streak when they meet at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mountaineers 3.7, the Spartans 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
