Basketball Recap: Orleans Starts Season with Victory at Home

Orleans took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They put the hurt on the Salem Lions with a sharp 62-39 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.

Orleans' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Callie Alston, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 20 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. That's the most points Alston has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Dille, who put up nine points and six steals.

Salem is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orleans will welcome Shoals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Salem, they will challenge Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
