Softball Recap: Olivia Kelly Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Fort Cherry

Seton LaSalle barely beat Fort Cherry the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rangers a 19-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

Gianna Ferrieri made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Seton LaSalle got a big performance out of Olivia Kelly, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave Kelly a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kara Collins, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

Seton LaSalle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Seton LaSalle's record now sits at 6-4. As for Fort Cherry, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Seton LaSalle will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rangers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
