Softball Game Preview: Highland Park Scots vs. Reedy Lions

The Highland Park Scots will face off against the Reedy Lions at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Highland Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Newman Smith a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The Scots have beaten the Trojans the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Trojans has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Reedy entered their tilt with Turner on Wednesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on Turner with a sharp 16-0 victory. Reedy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Malaina Boyst looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Katelyn Crosby was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Megan Lau was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.

Reedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Turner only managed two hits.

Reedy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Highland Park, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
