Basketball Recap: Deer Park Takes a Loss

After flying high against Clear Springs last Tuesday, Deer Park came back down to earth. The Deer Park Deer were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 55-54 to the Dickinson Gators. While losing is never fun, the Deer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 337th, while the Gators are ranked 105th).

Deer Park's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ally Marbury, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Marbury has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrina Silva, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points along with six boards and three blocks.

Deer Park's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Dickinson, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deer Park will welcome Clear Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dickinson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dickinson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Clear Creek likes a good challenge.
