Volleyball Game Preview: Esperanza Aztecs vs. Pacifica Mariners

The Esperanza Aztecs will face off against the Pacifica Mariners at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Pacifica took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Esperanza, who comes in off a win.

Esperanza took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Villa Park, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Aztecs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Spartans on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Aztecs have posted since September 28, 2024.

Esperanza was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (101-99), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-6.

Meanwhile, Pacifica came up short against Fountain Valley on Monday and fell 3-1.

Esperanza has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-11-1 record this season. As for Pacifica, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-11.

Esperanza took their victory against Pacifica in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Aztecs repeat their success, or do the Mariners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
